Interesting article on ancient "pop"

I just like to add that commercial popular music didn't start with recorded music but with printed sheet music in the 19'th century. And to "reproduce" it authentically one just needs to sing and play it on an instrument, just like consumers of that era did!

That's phenomenal - I'm downloading as much as I can.

I have several of these old cylinders, and I've always wondered what was on them. Guess what? Now I know - they are archived on the UCSB site!
