Inkjet printers b&w

Hi,

I thought I'd ask if there are any inkjet printers that are better suited to printing black and white prints. I don't need A3, so any thoughts on which printer?

The Epson R2400 has three black inks and is very very good. Unfortunately, it's quite big and expensive (it does A3, and there's no smaller version with the same inkset).

I use an Epson R1800, which is the A3 version of the smaller R800. It does give very good b&w, provided you use a dedicated b&w printer driver/RIP rather than the Epson driver. I use this one:

Is the Epson hideously expensive to run? I seem to remember those models constantly flush ink/require cleaning cycles etc.

Pretty expensive. Ink and good paper aren't cheap. Doesn't need a lot of flushing or cleaning though, it seems to just work.
