INFO: WOODSIDE D.A.C.

Just reading an Audiophile review of the Woodside DAC2. Priced £499 in May 1991. Reviewed by Keith Howard who seemed to prefer the Meridian 203 he used in comparison. It was exactly the same as the earlier £1000 DAC1 but didn't have switched coaxial and optical inputs.

Woodside head honcho, John Widgery, in his right of reply, amongst other things said,

"One of the main reasons that Woodside Electronics has maintained its policy of multibit is that, in our opinion, although most single bit systems generally produce a smoother sounding high frequency performance, they make involvement in music very difficult to achieve, giving most systems a clinical, undynamic sound."

Wonder what happened to Mr Widgery? Come to think of it, I wonder what happened to cliffyboy too? Not seen his name posting for a while.
