I had the debate on in the background though missed the first 30 minutes. I thought both sides played it overly aggressively and turned it into a personality contest rather than any real debate about a country's future. Much of Salmond's argument seemed centred on separating Scotland from hopeless Tory policy / Westminster etc, much of Darling's on fear of the unknown centred almost exclusively on currency. I felt the overall standard was poor with neither side showing any real vision, though I felt Salmond had more of the studio audience with him, so I'm surprised by the Guardian poll results. Neither side sold me anything (I'm in the 'better together' camp, but only because I don't want a lurch even further to the right in England!).
