In praise of Talkin Pics TV

I really enjoy TPTV which specialises in TV & Film from the 'golden age', in reality between the 30s - 80s. Obviously there is a fair amount of tosh on said channel but lots of gems also. I was recently introduced to 'Public Eye' via TPTV & think it is one of the greatest TV series ever with central 'Frank Marker' a genuine one off.

It’s been my favourite channel since it was first available to us. We have almost 300 films recorded from the channel that we’re slowly working our way through, and a fair bit of tv, including the superb Public Eye. I recall my father watching that (and Spindoe, which folk seem to have forgotten nowadays!).

It is odd how some Film/TV stars become forgotten while others live on in the memory. For example I'd never heard of John Grissom or Alfred Burke but both were genuine stars in their day, with the latter a highly respected stage actor.

Brilliant channel watch regular brings back many memories of life when I was a kid growing up in the 50’s.

Watch and record at least a couple per week. I use an old copy of Halliwell's film guide 2005 to read a quick review. It is quite surprising how many are awarded a star or three, also points out the real 'B' movies and flops.

PS:I feel Dementia is creeping up on me, or is it Deja vu, have I been here before?
