Identifying a Linn K9

Chaps,

In 1985 I purchased a Linn Axis and the optional K9 cartridge as recommended at the time by the dealer. I sold the Axis less than a year later to move on and am pretty sure I put the Linn Basik cartridge back on the turntable for the buyer and kept the K9 as did not want to give it away.

I have my "K9" in its orignal box since then still unused, everything looks brand new. I've seen pictures on the web like ebay of a K9 with a yellow stylus body and also elsewhere a grey stylus body with Linn K9 written.

Mine is a yellow body. Did Linn change the stylus body to grey later on ?

So after all these years is it a K9 I have or a Basik ?

Unless I really have to, don't want to have to make a special trip to a dealer to have him check the stylus profile to confirm.

Thanks all.

The early K9 had a yellow stylus and the later ones grey. You can tell the Basik from the K9 by the metal mounting on top of the K9 body, the basik is plastic with a yellow stylus and looks more like the AT95e.

Thanks very much mate:)

Thats a relief I do rememember having the right cartridge after all these years and was right about the grey body being a later thing Linn did.

Regards

L.
