Ian Lavender RIP

Wow, I had no idea. I missed this being reported. I love DA.

I presume by "the last" people mean of the main 7 characters? What about the German officer, the Vicar and the Spiv?

"Uncle Arthur... 'Scuse me Uncle Arthur..."

What was the line where he commented that "Uncle Arthur must have got up early because he was still talking to my Mum when I went to bed and when I came down to breakfast he'd already got up and come over to see us"?

He was the last of the regular characters. the Spiv (Jimmy somebody) was one of the earlier ones to go despite being relatively young. The Vicar must be long dead now, the German officer maybe not but he only appeared once (IIRC)
Edit - James Beck, Private Walker (the spiv) died 1973 aged 44.
Frank Williams, the vicar, died 2022 aged 90. Well done Frank.
Philip Madoc, U boat captain, died 2012 aged 77.

R.i.P. Mr. Lavender.

That scarf always bothered me. Same as Dr. Who/Tom Baker.
Definitely the end of an era.

have re runs of Dads Army been given viewer warnings like Steptoe & Son & Frankie Howards Up Pompeii? In steptoe and son the visit to the cinema episode they even went as far as blurring a porn stars chest on the cinema poster
