HUGE Pink Floyd releases...

I've had a look at whats coming, its stunning... there is VAST amounts of stuff coming out - expanded editions of EVERY studio album; Blu Ray, te 1974 DSoTM show...

I'm just stunned.

Since 1967 Pink Floyd have produced one of the most outstanding and enduring catalogues in the history of recorded music. All 14 original Studio albums have now been painstakingly digitally remastered by James Guthrie (co-producer of The Wall), and are reissued with newly crafted packaging and booklets created by the band’s long-time artwork collaborator Storm Thorgerson.

Every album? I thought from a quick read of the Steve Hoffman forum it was only the mid-70s prog stuff; DSOTM, WYWH, Wall. I'd possibly be interested in some of the earlier stuff e.g. the Columbia period.

Tony.

The full on extras albums (called immersion releases) are just DSOM, WYWH and the Wall and are available for pre-order on amazon.com for $101 dollars.

Personally I will wait for the vinyl and other peoples reports as to whether they actualy sound any good becuase all this digitally remastred nonsense doesnt go down well with me - although maybee the extras are CD only?

Well what a pisser for those of us that shelled out for "Oh By The Way" !!! Your not telling me that this wasn't already on the cards when Oh By The Way was released. EMI are in the mire and rereleasing anything they can get their hands on. A lot of this stuff will be out of the reach of most Floyd fans. Why not just release the bonus material? They could have quite easily released the original albums in SACD years ago.How much money do Gilmore and Waters really need?

Still. Who cares?

I have to say having been a fan of Pink Floyd when you know it really mattered (when I was a teen) its very sad to see the utter bullshit that is whats happening right now.

Such a shame. Just how many ****ing remasters can Wish You Were Here endure?

I live in the hope that original pink floyd members have nothing to do with this, but one would also hope they have some ownership of their material.

In my humble opinion there is usually a reason why stuff never made it out the stuido in the first instance. I see Frank Zappa's family doing the same thing.

Sigh.

The Wall, Seven CDs?!?!?! it was overblown on two LPs. Might be tempted by a properly extended Saucerful though...

WYWH has, IIRC been remastered twice, and neither really cuts the mustard IMO. Guthrie did a fantastic job on DSoTM 30th, and I'm really excited about hearing what he'll do with it - a proper remaster is waaaaay overdue.

Or at the £1= $1.6 at the moment, £93 from Amazon.uk

I feel a very expensive few months coming up.......

I couldn't get rid of my DSoTM 30th quick enough - really flat and lacking in shine. Awfull release.

I agree, the 30th DSOM was not my cup of tea at all. Very dull. I hope that the others don't turn out to be similar! And the idea of 7cds of The Wall is very definately in keeping with the spirit of the record. I could not and cannot listen to the whole of the 2lp vinyl. Goodness knows I tried. So that will give me more money for The Eagles remasters and extras when they arrive!
