Re: 301 vs 401, 301 has more drive and percussive power, 401 is quieter and does detail retrieval better. Not a lot in it though and only having them side by side makes the differences obvious.
FWIW, I’m using SPH bearing and LDA power supply which does level across the 2 decks, both additions lower noise floor and reduce some of the Garrard-ness, but works for me.
