How important is recapping a 32.5?

I have another thread posted about the HiCap with 32.5 and 160 - thinking about recapping a 32.5. How big a difference does a newly serviced unit make?

No way of knowing without listening to it.

I've had some old naim preamps that just sound like mud and others that seem as fresh as when they left the factory.

It's some combination of pot luck and how previous owners have used them. I'm guessing on 24/7 isn't the best from a service life point of view.

I'm in two minds about this. Despite my schizophrenia, I feel that continual switching, charging and discharging of cap's and changing internal temperatures can do more harm than keeping electronics warm and cap's charged. Especially with Naim, but the 32 is a bit long in the tooth, albeit a nice little pre. in its time

Ah but you get people who only switch them on once per month rather than once per day!

If you get something from a user such as that then happy days!

I couldn't believe how little use my CB pair of 135's appeared to have seen in 30 years. Never run hot (no dust inside and no setting of the heatsink goop).

Such equipment definitely is out there.
