Any HiFi repair shop/person in Birmingham? The tweeters on my Proac Sc1 speakers have stopped working, need someone to look at them.

Thanks.

Try John Townrow at Five Ways Hi-Fidelity Ltd, in Harborne, Birmingham.
Closed on Mondays, Tel 0121 427 4740.

Hi Syed

If your tweeters are fried I think you would be better off just replacing them with new ones, I may be wrong but I doubt it would cost that much more.

Hi Tony,

I did think that, but I thought I'd have them checked out just in case it's something else minor.

To be honest, that's how they were when I bought them - was meant to be for my bedroom system. The chap I bought them from said they hadn't been used for a couple of years.

I did get a refund in the end to purchase a new set of tweeters. The seller was an honest gentleman!

Yes, that is the plan, but I thought I'd have them looked at in case it was something else before I ordered the tweeters.

Do you own a multimeter?

Tweeters are an easy thing to test, just pop one out and measure its resistance with leads disconnected.

If it's a few ohms its fine, if it's open circuit then its dead!

A pro is likely to charge you £50 just to do that.
