Help connecting a Meridian 101 to Meridian M2 active speakers

The DAC will sit between a digital component (streamer, CD player...) and your pre-amp, not between the pre-amp and the speakers.
Apologies if I have completely misunderstood your post!

I should clarify, the Yamaha pre-amp is not going to do any processing... I'm using it because I can stream audio from it. The digital coax out from the Yamaha is what I will be connecting to the DAC so yes you can think of it as a digital streamer.
So this is how I plan on connecting it TV or Network-> Yamaha (digital out) -> DAC -> Powered M2 speakers
My question is if i can use a XLR to 5pin cable to connect the DAC and M2 speakers instead of using RCA
