Helius Cyalene

confused
Hello,

I looking for information about the Helius Cyalene Tonearm. Does anyone have an instruction manual?

Regards Alexander

Drop a mail to Geoffrey Owen at [email protected] although as owner of a website that provides nothing more than a mention in a list of previous models, I would not hold out too much hope.

Otherwise, refer to the data on the website for subsequent/current tonearms built along very similar lines.

All the recent ones of similar appearance - Cyalene, Phaedra, Omega use a reinvention of the Hadcock bearing principle except that there appear to be horizontal and vertical spindles - the gimbal- using the bearing principle at each end, instead of the usual ball races, whereas the Hadcock arms use just one as a pseudo-uni-pivot.
The website claims variable effective mass, to around 10g, which would imply a complicated assembly outside of the bearing as the usual way to do that would be to use a paddle and trough of oil.
