Headphone volume

I'm listening to the first time to a small amp fed by PC/USB (NAD D7050). I have plugged in my cheapish headphones (Sennheiser HD300), and have had to turn the volume on the amp up to -10db. Is t hat unusual? I have checked that the volume on the PC is up to max, ditto the programme being used to play the tracks (VLC).

Headphone spec if needed:

  • Impedance
    18 Ω
  • Frequency response (Headphones)
    18–20,000 Hz (-10 dB)
  • Sound pressure level (SPL)
    118dB (1kHz/1Vrms)
