Has the sound quality of audio equipment really got any better?

It'd be interesting to compare the 4430s with current JBL monitors, e.g. the 4367s. Has anyone done it?

I'd be going for the M2 if we are bringing the moderns into it- the 4367 horn is a compromised domesticated version of the M2s horn. I guess if you were doing an ancient and modern comparison, you'd be pitting the 4435 against the M2.

Does that compromise you mention matter or show up much at domestic volume levels?
As I own some esl57 and JBL Aquarius 4's I have some experience to call on.
