Hope this can help others.
I was mucking around with the TT last night and played my touchstone reference, Sheffield Lab 5. If this sounds good, than all is well.
I've had a little trouble getting the SIG PLAT boresighted as it is an ellyptical.
Anyway ,track 2 side 1 sounded atrocious, right on the verge of mistracking the whole way through. Really apalling.
This is consistent with my observations about the same relative position on some other albums.
I cleaned the stylus. No difference.
I then reduced anti skate to zero, and increased playing weight by 1/10th of a gram to 1.7g. Problems solved
The result was un-subtle. It was dramatic
Remember, this is a cartridge I have aligned by listening, as the arm is 5mm too far away to get an accurate read off my gauge.
Second issue : I've bought a Grado Signature 1BB
( yes , two 'B's )stylused vintage cart. and will fit on my second system in my lab at work.
The cartridge database has almost zero on the sig 1B cart.Anyone know it?
