Glass and brick behind the speakers..

Does anyone with an acoustics background care to comment on this?
What would the effect be if you had a wall behind speakers that only went 3/4 the height of the speakers, and then had glass all the way to the ceiling.

In terms of having a wall for bass reinforcement, would the glass be considered more like a wall, or more like the speaker being in a free space, or (as I suspect) the worst of all worlds?

It really depends on the glass and how much isolates the sound from the other side. Bass will always pass easier than mid and high frequencies though. In the case of a typical domestic double glazed window I've seen absorption coefficients (i.e. sound that passes though is considered absorbed from the room)around 0.2-0.3 from below 150Hz.

I think it makes things worse at my place. The solidity of bass is gone. :-(
Problem is I have a crazy living room with not a single straight 8-10 feet wall in sight. Not sure what kind of speakers I should try.
