Getting back into DIY

Negatively Biased
Been 2 years since I have not had any facility to do any projects and I really miss it.
During lock down we decided to down size to a bungalow which needed a total restoration, bad news was I lost my workshops from the old place ☹️
Anyway I have completed all the internal work at the bungalow, so I have built a 45mm wall wooden Garage (workshop) in kit form from Dunster house, nice quality gear this .

So within a few weeks I would like to start on some of the project's that have been on the back burner for too long.
Hopefully I can find all my soldering gear and the parts I need?
Got a few reel 2 reel restorations to do, but the project I am most looking forward to is building one of Avondale Audios SE amplifiers, I have been following threads from Laverda and Richard lines and it sound like they are a fantastic Amp.
LesW kindly sent me some circuit boards and I feel really guilty that I haven't got it done so big apology to Les .
Just built the workbench today so thats a major milestone for me

I have basically the same but 1m shorter with an outdoor 1m overhang. Great quality mine is 12 years old. I painted it with hicksons oil and it basically still looks like new 12 years later.

Just needs a rug...
Yes , I don't like standing on cold hard floors.
I laid a 5" slab of concrete for the founds but I have covered that with 25mm kingspan type insulating board and 18mm flooring so at least its a warm floor.
Maybe some type of neoprene floor tiles ?.
Im going to build a smaller desk on the other side in front of the window so I can sit and do soldering with some natural light.
Its surprising how much difference natural light makes when soldering small components and fine tracks

I'm having our brick built single garage extended to make it a double length but single width garage. The new section is going to be my workshop.

I've gone a bit mad and the spec is a bit luxurious but there's nowhere else we can realistically extend and well, you only live once so my life savings are going into it.

The new build is being built with a cavity wall with 60mm PIR board insulation. The floor is also insulated as will be the vaulted ceiling (steel beam ridge). There'll be a double glazed window and four velux rooflights in the roof for plenty of natural light.

Lovely space Alan! What is your soldering set up?

It's great seeing other's working areas and ideas. I've put together a similar space to yourself in an attached garage which is a major improvement on where was there before. However the arrival of a mitre saw might mean a bit of a re-jig.

I normally use a Metcal MFR1350 with switchable solder sucker and soldering on the other outlet, unfortunately its stopped working so I am using a Pace sensatemp soldering iron which is a nice unit and a cheap Chinese solder sucker
Ive had a look at the Metcal and the power supply is ok but it seems to be a fault in one of the ICs?, so Ive passed it onto a to a local electronics repair specialist see if he can fix it.
