George Davis has finally been cleared of the robbery which he always said he didn't do. He was a villain and did get caught bang to rights a few years later though.

But being 'overdue' is no reason to get sent down.

Now there's a name from the past.
A good friend was on jury service for that trial and he probably told me more about it than he legally should have.
The upside and downside to jury trials (I have done service myself), is that a jury sticks very much to considering if there is PROOF. I have worked with one very candid magistrate and they are somewhat less adherent to that principle, to say the least. Hence conviction rates are substantially higher in magistrates courts compared to Crown courts. I was also partner to someone high up in the CPS for a few years and nothing that she said surprised me in comparison to my experiences.
