Garrard 401 in slate plinth

Has anyone tried a 401 in a slate plinth? How would this compare with more usual Loricraft-esque designs?

I am reasonably friendly with Terry O Sullivan, proprietor of Loricraft.

Terry says that a slate plinth does not sound as alive as a heavy wooden one such as his.

I have never heard a slate one myself. so cannot comment, but the Loricraft plinth really releases the sound.
