  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

Great to see stuff like that available. It would be good to see them for Leak too. He’s got some very nice reproduction knobs for Roberts radios, WEM Copicat etc too. So good to see avenues to repair ever more stuff.

    Re: Knobs:

For restorers of valuable equipment, this video may be of interest, where Wesley Treat uses modern moulding processes to copy a vintage knob, and he gets a really good result.

Very nicely done, I was amazed how close/identical to Bakelite his black resin turned out.

Another YouTuber, Randi Rain, has the same process sussed in her restorations of vintage robot toys etc. She casts plastic gears, battery doors etc. Makes me think with a bit of practice it would be possible to remake broken gears, plastics etc for cassette decks, CD players etc.

I have seen the latest and it's amazing.
Steve who does the tagboard in post 1, has also coming soon QII power transformers, all nicely boxed up in the same metal enclosures and painted, as well as the chokes and hopefully the output transformers (these are the tricky bits as the winding details are complicated). He also has the chassis and the sub chassis for the KT66's and the base plates.

If these look as good as his chassis for the Vox AC30 guitar amp, they'll be spot on.

Just noticed he does a repro Quad II chassis too. Nice!

Hoping maybe he’ll offer repro buttons for the Quad 22 further down the line perhaps. I got a set from a guy in the Netherlands who specialises in repro parts for old radios & hifi, but they were very pricey.
