Favo*u*rite Records Shops OUTSIDE of London

Reel Around the Fountain upstairs in Stretford Arndale Centre is an absolutely wonderful old-style Second Hand Record Shop if you're in the Manchester area. Bloke who runs it is very funny. If you're buying a stack of stuff he gives you the ones you "should be ashamed of" free. Luckily FGTH Two Tribes Remix 12" for me!

We had a used record shop in Norwich that closed down a few years ago could not stay in it for long because of the cigarette smoke and the serious risk of cancer!
Another very popular store that also closed down was Beanos in Croydon, what a loss that was.
Brighton certainly used to have good record selections, a favourite of mine was Terminus records, not even sure if they still exist?
When you come across these places they are a goldmine and worth passing on to others.

Gatefield Sounds in Whitstable - great local Indie store
Cool, I’ve been living in Faversham for the last 18 months where we have a plethora of market stalls selling slightly overpriced vinyl, I’m also aware of the excellent B side The C side in Herne Bay, but hadn’t tried this one.

Earworm Records, hidden away in Powell's Yard down a snickleway to the side of The Snickleway Inn on Goodramgate, York. A very diverse selection of new and old as well as some CD and even a few tapes! Upstairs they have their Moth RCM, a good stock of entry-level/vintage hardware, a few guitars and the odd bit of pro kit. Very friendly staff, very knowledgeable about music, one guy, one of the owners I think teaches music production as his day job...

Haven't been to B side the C side for a while - will give it a go again.

If anyone's over in Paris, Crocojazz is one of the best jazz record stores in the world. The same guy has been running it for about 30 years, knows every record in the store, and is more than happy to chat about records and jazz for hours. I spent a good three hours in the place chatting with him. It's funny, because many of the reviews cite him as being unfriendly etc.. Couldn't be further from the truth. I think he just doesn't have time for tire kickers!

Was in Replay Records in Grimsby this morning. An excellent shop. But as well as that, Scott who runs it had some of Jimmy Page's personal collection waiting to go to a guy who specialises in cleaning up grotty sleeves. Some LZ first pressings and some blues stuff. Anyway, that was my morning.

I quite like Vinyl Villains in Edinburgh (secondhand).

There is a good one in Totnes too for new lps, but I can't remember the name

I fear you may be disappointed by Gatefield Sounds! B Side the C Side was certainly worth the visit the last time I was there. Canterbury Rock in Canterbury is often worth a visit too.

Well, there's no harm in popping in when I'm next in Whitstable for a post sunday morning bike ride oyster breakfast!

Depends on what you are looking for. Nice selection of vinyl but not much in the way of second hand. There’s always Rock Bottom for crate diggers.

Discovered this place on my last visit to New York:
Jazz Record Centre, 236 W 26th St, 8th Floor. Amazing selection of new & used Jazz Vinyl & CD’s + memorabilia. Weird things is that it’s in an Apartment block, on the 8th floor. Worth tracking down though.

My favourite is the one between Skiddaw and High Seat but that’s all you are getting.

there is a record shop near the railway station in Brighton run by an old geezer must be atleast 80. Lots of stock. Turn right as you come out of the station and right again up the road say 50m on the left hand side
