Exceptional new audio products at realistic prices

It's a new year, and even though we are living through a shitshow, I want to look forward. I guess we are all guilty of looking at the same types and brands of audio products, but I thought i might be interesting to start a thread on overlooked audio equipment.

I'll start with these speakers:
https://www.aps-company.com/klasik-2020-en/
https://www.proaudioeurope.com/moni...s-klasik-active-2020-2-way-speakers-pair.html
https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/aps-klasik-2020
They look tremendously good value. Proaudioeurope are good to deal with too.

Emotiva BASX PT-100 preamp/DAC/tuner/phonostage - this thing is stellar for any money let alone what I paid.
Tisbury Audio Domino phono stage - huge bang for buck as they say

I love my ELAC Uni-Fi 2.0 UB52 bookshelf speakers, remarkably good for $599 US. Unfortunately, it looks like ELAC pricing in the UK is out of sync with their US pricing. I think the UB52 is £599, which puts it up against speakers that sell for $800-$1000 in the US.

That emotiva pre amp is offers axing features for the money - even at uk prices. In the US it’s cheap as chips. A pair of active speakers and you’re all set up. Love it.

I’d add my recently acquired Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro headphones to this list, £109, exceedingly good, I love what they do.

Beat me to it ! I bought one in August and am still finding new details & "sparkle" in previously lacklustre sounding records.

I was so pleased that I stopped prevaricating about buying an Audio Technica VM95ML, which gets my vote for "realistically priced new audio product"

I bought the HiFi News annual product awards issue. It’s a depressing read- full of ridiculously priced items and I’ll qualify what I mean by that- 1m rca interconnect cables at £14,000, bog standard moving coil speakers at £50,0000. Zero innovation, just cashing in on a fat seam of potential purchasers. OK the crap bike shed build quality and stingy parts lists of the flat earth, price gouging era have gone but they’ve simply been replaced by overworked bling.

This is why I stopped reading HFN some time ago having started buying it (as HFNRR especially) in the mid-1970s.

An editor's response to queries about his editorial policy on the high-end kit that gets reviewed failed to change my view that even though I am fortunate enough to be able to spend well enough on HiFi, I am definitely not a buyer with aspirations for ultra-luxury equipment. If they are HFN's targeted readership now that's his decision, but I am no longer well enough served.

My vote goes to B.K subwoofers based in Southend-on-Sea. Solid engineering and incredible value for money. I’m sure a lot of their competitors think they’re underpricing their stuff. My favourite, the xxls400 powered 12” sealed enclosure.

it’s a marriage made in heaven with Falcon ls3/5as
BK are a great company, always a pleasure to deal with & their subs are super. Their HQ is a rather…interesting…place!

I am a big ATC fan & think their products are excellent value. CDA2 into active speakers is all you really need, not ‘cheap’ but excellent value. Quality of drivers in their ‘entry’ range is far higher than most.
