Do I need a new amplifier as well?

Hi,

I consider buying a pair of Dynaudio Focus 260. I already have a Rotel RA-06. Is this a good combination, or is it better to invest in cheaper speakers and a new amp as well (or just a power amp as I already have an Audiolab MDAC?

Any comments and thoughts are appreciated.

Start saving for a decent pair of c300W monoblocks that are happy into low impedance.
i think the speakers are good.

This may not met with universal approval, but,.......I suggest you start with the Rotel, then, as you have the MDAC, buy a Behringer A500 power amp. This amp will drive just about most things, and you won't be disappointed unless HiFi to you means how much can you spend.

The A500 is transparent under any sort of objective criteria, http://theaudiocritic.com/plog/index.php?op=ViewArticle&articleId=22&blogId=1

and it's only £150. Yes, really. I use them to drive my B&W 801Fs. Wouldn't change them for any other amp at any cost.
