Denon DL160 & 304 needing repair/retipping. What to do?

My only experience with retipping was about 7 years ago with Expert Stylus Company and a Linn Troika.

After two months of waiting and £250 paid the cartridge came back, but it sounded different.

After 3 months the cantilever fell off without any reason.

There are a lot of good cartridge around there.

I think that retippig have a sense just for very expensive Japanese cartridge as Kiseki, Koetsu, Lyra, etc, having price over £1000.

My experiences with Expert Stylus over the years are the complete opposite to yours.
Many examinations and styli replacements done quickly and at reasonable cost.

In fact, when Mr. Hodgson had re-wound one of the coils on my Entre he ‘phoned me to say
it was on its way back to me.

Would a Denon DL110 comfortably outperform a Audio Technica AT VM 95 ml?

Yes in all area other than inner groove distortion. The Denon is good here, better than many but the AT is stellar thanks to the ML tip profile.

The Denon will sound richer, more textured and 3D.

On the decision between 110 and 160, I always found the 110 just a smidge better thanks to slightly lower compliance and higher VTF. Tracks a little more securely and both carts have the same tip.
