Decca Solti Ring in 24-bit sound?

MDT have just put a new issue of the evergreen Solti Ring on their website. It's very expensive (and I've already paid more than £100 or the last-but-one issue, so apart from the extra quaver - which I never missed - at first I thought there was nothing in it. But mention of the 24-bit lossless files is intriguing. Is Universal giving us a high-res Solti Ring?

What is blu-ray audio anyway? Is it possible to play it as wav files on a PC?

It`s a great ring, possibly the best but it was recorded on analogue tape 24 bit is b***ocks

As I understand it, Universal have transferred all their analogue tapes in 24/96 at the Emil Berliner studios. Some of these have appeared in Japan re-sampled for SACD. The Ring was actually released on SACD by Esoteric, at something like £1000!
It looks wonderful, I have to say. Can't afford it though.

DSD allows the listener to hear into levels of fifty year old analogue tape hiss and print- through never before possible......
