Hi
I’ve been looking at my old comic collection when I was a boy in the 1960s and there seem to be one or two valuable issues - in particular Hawkman #4 .
Judging the condition of a comic seems to cost a fortune !
Does anyone have any experience or advice as to the best way of selling classic DC comics.
I’ve got about 30 of them

I would suggest a specialist comic shop as a first port of call. Thrre is one where I live in St Albans

Unfortunately I live in sunny Stockport, I will see what there is locally.
Problem is losing out when you don’t know the market value - which varies considerably according to condition. Getting a widely accepted assessment of condition seems to cost a lot
 
As you say condition is everything when it comes to value. I would have a look at some grading tutorials online - it should at least give you a rough idea of what grade your issues are and allow you to have a rough estimate of value - though bear in mind published guide prices aren't always achieved.

A friend of my wife recently sold some early Marvel comics through a specialist comics auction house and they did quite well. I'll see if I can find out the name of the firm.
