Dash Cam - best one?

Oh I do win!

If you’ve parked nose in and are waiting for someone to let you out, that someone won’t be me. Ever. Being lazy doesn’t excuse parking nose in anymore than it excuses people reversing into a main road from their driveways.
I'd argue that its easier to reverse in to a space, well, I find it easier. Not bragging just years of driving a van

Don't you find that no matter how far away you park from others to protect your paintwork, some dickhead will park right next to you even though there are 20+ other spaces right next to you

EDIT: oh and good luck getting to your back doors or even the boot with bags of shopping in any of the car parks round here if there's someone parked next to you, absolutely no chance in a 3 door, multis round here you can't even get to the boot of the car as you need to reverse right up to the wall at the back to make sure your front end doesn't get clipped ;)

Car park spaces should be made big enough to fully open your door on both sides, esp for elderly who don't have a blue badge.

They used to be when the average car was the size of a Mk 2 Escort. These days you would need an HGV bay to do as you say with a BMW X5 or a Volvo V90.

I have a Blackvue 9000 front camera. Allegedly 4K resolution but couldnt resolve a rear number plate of the driver leaving the scene after rear ending me. I regretted not fitting a rear camera at the time of purchase. One good point about the brand is that they’ll send it off to Korea to get a new board if it fails, all for £47.00!

IstructE recommendations on car park design updated this April (2024) now recommends 2.6m bay width min for this very reason.

10% increase on previous norm.

That is so bloody true and weird at the same time, its like they dont want to be alone. 😁
I always park as far away as possible, its an exercise thing, and protection of my door panels

My dad has home CCTV and now a dash cam. IMO his mental health has been negatively impacted proportionately to his use of security devices.

Poor old Dad, more to worry about, I suppose. I fitted CCTV here, when two vans, in the lane, got broken into. I became fixated by it, four years later, I found a new life, that helped me to stop worrying about it. It was close though

Extraordinary. Never heard that argument before. Maybe it's because I live in a less busy town. I rarely park like that - especially at the supermarket. I do always try to park well away from other vehicles - especially old and or damaged ones. I've been the victim of an idiot driving into my car while I've been in the shop. Sorry but I don't find it lazy to drive in forwards. I thinks it's very inconsiderate to not let people out.

Don't use my dashcam for local trips. I bought it mainly for when we go to France. I feel a lot better using it there though I don't have a rear facing camera and tailgating is a passion it would seem.

Maybe it would be better to leave as is to discourage people from buying these ridiculous cars. They're not going to widen all the narrow country lanes. They appear more suited to North America.

Great, just what we need. Wtf are we going to put them all?

ahem
As such a designer (architect) - I agree.

But - sadly /frankly - our society, people, are in general = thoughtlessly-demanding, utter-selfish tw&ts.

Yep - SUV's in general- why? More metal, more plastic, more rubber, more energy. Same journey

Happened to me on an occasion when I had a brand new Merc. Carefully parked far away from the entrance, completely alone. When I came back, two cars had parked on either side of mine (the rest was still empty). I R R I T A T I O N. Well, nothing had happened to my car.

I guess some cars must be equipped with magnetos that drag them towards other vehicles. Maybe I should get a Corvette next time.
