Computer MoBo Components

I've got a couple of old PC motherboards and was wondering if any components could be used for DIY projects rather than just thrown away.

For example, could these (presumably?) inductors be used in a PSU?

your old motherboard is suffering from the old bulging cap syndrome.

replace the caps and it will probably work.

I know...frequent problem with those Epox boards...

But it has already been replaced so is now on the way to the scrap bin.

I've actually got some inductors just like that have been doing duty in the Starfish... funnily enough, they came out of an old PC, too :)

Same size? I was wondering if they might be good between caps on the PSU..rather like Les's Cap 6 arrangement ?

pretty similar, more winding though. They formed part of the CLCLC filter after the tracos, much in the same way as the cap6 which is, as you know, also a CLCLC.
