'Tis the season to be jolly and all that. C'mon everyone. Give us your festive Top 10...

1. Tom Waits - Christmas Card From a Hooker in Minneapolis
2. Steve Earle - Christmas in Washington
3. The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York
4. Death Cab For Cutie - Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
5. Darlene Love - All Alone On Christmas
6. Everything But The Girl - 25th of December
7. Jonah Lewie - Stop The Cavalry
8. Charles Brown - Merry Christmas Baby
9. Pretenders - 2000 Miles
10. Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas

By their very raison d'etre all xmas songs are intrinsically naff but the few I can kinda enjoy are

1. The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale of New York

2. Jethro Tull - Ring out Solstice Bells.

3. The Waitresses - Xmas Wrapping.

4. Bob Dylan - Must be santa.

5. John Lennon and Yoko Ono - Happy xmas (War is over)

I must admit I really enjoyed the Dylan.

These days I'd probably select part of the Christmas Oratorio by JS Bach.

I rate 'Father Christmas' by The Kinks as being up there with my favorite carols of the season. ;-)

'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)' by Darlene Love is the best Christmas song ever. I'd be quite happy never to hear Slade, Wizzard, Macca or the sodding Pogues' Christmas songs ever again.

Nice special mention to those amazing non-Christmas Christmas songs

Caravan of Love - The Housemartins
Stay - East 17
Power of Love - Frankie Goes To Hollywood

Always on my mind - PSB and who can forget that Xmas classic - Killing in the name by Rage against the machine?

I would do a top 10 but most Xmas songs don't do it for me.... then again nor does Xmas itself!

The Harlem Community Choir ,The Plastic Ono Band ,John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
