CD3.5 or CDI?

MJS

Technical Tinkerer
I've had my Naim CDi since 1992 and it's been very faithful to me over the years. I still love its ability with good recordings yet after servicing and testing my customer's CD3.5s I find them just a bit more exciting. I can't put my finger on it - it's like a 180 compared to a 250 - a bit rougher round round the edges but a tad more involving. So I'm in a real dilemma - do I keep the CDI or sell on and get a 3.5? I really like them both. (the 3.5 is more tweakable though..)

And before anyone asks I've recently serviced my CDi and the transport still works as good as it did 20 years ago with the same laser current.

Mark, let me know should you sell the CDi.

I agree with you re the 180 v 250, although the 160 is better than both I think.

I know the 3.5 has fans on here, keep the one which makes you smile; it's all subjective.

No help at all I know, hey ho!

In an ideal world I'd buy my 82 back too. Hmmm, what can I can swap the CDI for?...

I might be selling my 82 which has your initials on the board.

Lots of things I'd like to clutter the house up with.

In an ideal world of course.
