CD players with pucks

My Sony CDP-XB930 has a puck. Can be had for cheap second hand.

I've had mine for 20 years now (Richer Sounds grey import job).

I used to have one of these very unmusical player. Mine failed after I put the puck on without a disc or separator and when I struggled to remove it ( the magnetic attraction was high) damaged something so threw it away. well built though. I still have the puck some where if any one wants it and wants to pay postage

The thing about the puck mechs is they tend not to make that annoying swishing sound that some top clamp mechs do. And some of the top clamp mechs have a little fabric pad under the top hat and can be prone to static build up causing excess dust ingress.

I had a Nagra CDC for a while. Ridiculously expensive now.

Wow! That’s looks the business.

Many do so it seems.

Even the advantages, I'd couldn't even dream of doing this.
Playing from a computer don't attract me the slightest.
Maybe its age related.
Well, I'll be 74 tomorrow!* While technically a computer, I use an Innuos Zenith 2 server/streamer. Although at the moment I am having trouble with the new playing app, generally it is so simple to rip a CD to the drive. Put it in the slot and it does it.
And I hate computers!
* I thought it was today! Shows how old I am.

'The Source' from Einstein had a puck. Great sounding CDP with a tube output stage. Very expensive back in the day (as is all their equipment).
