Cartridge hum, one channel. Please help.

Hi guys,

I have just installed a new Goldring 2500 to replace my DL110. It is aligned as well as possible and everything is set up to go.

The only problem is that I get ahum in one speaker. If I change the red ad white leads over on the cartridge the hum moves to the other channel. What could the problem be? The headshell wires? I didn't notice the hum on my other cart. Maybe because the output is lower?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Edit: I put my old DL110 back in and the hum has gone away. I turned them amp well up and I'm getting nothing. Surely it is a cartridge problem?

Hi,

Open circuit coil on the cartridge or broken wire in the arm lead, can you reconnect the old cartridge to check the arm lead?

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the reply.I put in my old cartridge and the problem has gone entirely.

Must be the cartridge.
