I cannot watch the GIF without having the thud sound in my head - but I know I'm not hearing it through my ears. I'm hearing it the same way I hear words in my head when I'm reading.
I don’t hear anything at all. I perceive an animation of some electricity pylons skipping. Seems a reasonable and accurate perception to me. The animation isn’t quite right in that the shake of the frame should be delayed by the amount of time it takes the shock wave to travel to the viewer.
