Can anyone help identify this band?

Hi

Loose Ends on Radio 4 last night featured two live songs by a band I've never heard of. Sounded great, so I'm keen to get a recording.

Thing is, I didn't quite catch the band's name - sounded like 'Eligaru' or 'Ellaguru' or something like that. Their music is very hard to describe - a bit like Belle and Sebastian on (lots of) valium (and with clarinet). Slow, laid back.

Can anyone help me out here, or was it all a dream?

There is a local band called Ella Guru who fit your description. I think they have had a couple of singles out, not sure about an album. The name comes from a track on Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica.
