Camera Porn

My dad has something that looks a bit like that, does anyone still make plates for them (I don't really understand what I'm talking about here, but it might be fun to play with)?

I did buy a job lot of Jessops liquid B&W emulsion, but haven't got round to trying it yet. Despite being beautifully put together it still feels a bit fragile and at around 100 years old I don't fancy bodging it in any way. A standard 5x4 darkslide will just about fit on the back without stressing the woodwork so I might give it a try soon (I have 50 sheets of Velvia lurking in the fridge)

Here's a few of mine.

anex i've been asking about in london for glass for it. the best place we've found is somewhere random in belgium so have to see about that. hella want to try it, along with that old pathe-cine-scope thing, ancient dinky camcorder, he has. but no-one can develop the film for that.

Half plate film was certainly available from Mr Cad in Croydon a few years ago, but I'm not sure if it still available from that source. I was interested because a half plate back was originally produced as an option for my Toyo, the format looked really nice and I had found some half plate holders in an obscure shop in Ginza.

It would be worth asking this question, and also the related one on glass plate preparation on the LF forum, where there are people who really know what they are talking about and who produce extraordinary images using a variety of alternative processes.

Thanks T, could be a good birthday present if I can find the necessary bits. Plate camera or otherwise, Cliff's link looks like fun.

Only just seen this thread, love the Olympus Pen and the Nikon F2s. Here's my humble Nikkormat FTn:

Not run a film through it in many years, it's just a cool ornament these days. I'm just too lazy.

Tony.

Tony

That Nikkormat is a lovely camera - way too good for an ornament (says the man with a house full of ornaments).

Go on - stick some Tri-x in it

All the way from Belarus.

I looked back at some shots I took in the 80s and compared them with some stuff on flickr also taken with the Helios 58/f2. They certainly have a 'look' to them. I'll stick some HP5 in it at the weekend and see what happens.
