I don't recall seeing any mention of Michael Powers here before, but I wanted to pass on a strong recommendation for 'Onyx Root', an album that I missed when it first came out in 2004 but has really impressed me.
With a voice reminiscent of Buddy Guy, Blind Missisippi Morris with maybe a touch of Ben Andrews, Powers makes his way through a series of acoustic and electric blues (and a few soul) numbers, playing some searing guitar on the way. If you're into Ronnie Earl, Hubert Sumlin or Buddy Guy, you'll love this.....
