B&W Px8 white noise in ambient/ pass through mode

Just bought these headphones and they sound really excellent, however when I put them in 'pass through' mode there is a lowish level hiss / white noise sound. Is this expected?

I have no idea but I have AirPods Max and prefer to listen with the noise cancelling enabled. You’re activating the microphones when in pass through mode so it might be the nature of how that particular model operates.

Thanks. I've now noticed that my Samsung buds do it too and seems louder in a quiet environment, so I'm assuming that this is fine.
