Hi folks,
Yesterday I went to the AV-NU HiFi-show in Utrecht, Holland.
Amongst many other distributors, Dutch Naim distributor Latham was there to show the new Naim Ovator 400.
The systems being used where:
Source: LP12/Aro (don't know which cartridge), Unitiserve, HDX nDac and CDX2.
Amps: SuperNait + HiCap, 202/HiCap/200
To my surprise I was the first person at the show. Here are 2 short demo video's I made
Eva Cassidy, through the Ovator 400's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiAzZmksj7c
Joe Satriani (yuk) through the Ovator 400's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M3WlRayK8c
The system sounded very good. Still,... I must confess I wasn't blown away by it either.
Maybe it was the room or the hardly run-in, brandnew Ovators, I don't know, but I felt I was missing something.
(take 'considering the price' in account)
Also in another corner of the big room was a lovely little system, consisting of only a Uniticute and some rather nice looking and sounding Neat speakers. Great vfm imho.
(an I-pod Touch seemed mandatory to operate the Cute, as the info on the screen was very small)
The lovely line of Neat Motive speakers.
(I'd have loved to hear the Motive 2SE but unfortunately they were only on display)
2 other rooms I frequently visited during the day were the Sonneteer/PENaudio room and the Rega/Totem room.
In fact, the latter is where I spent most of my time.
This little and affordable system sounded great, beyond my expectations.
(open, detailed, and simply involving)

I think the Rega P3-24 looks rather cool in lime-green.
Well, that's about it. Ofcourse there was much more to see and listen to, but having a soft spot for British HiFi gear I thought I'd just share with you my Naim and Rega listening experiences.
(btw, big dissapointment was the (though very crowded) Musical-Fidelity room)
regards,
Alco
