Not to sure that was always the case. There was news several years ago that Ringo was down to his last.

Unless the band is enormous. Ring Starr is worth more than Page or Plant for example

But he did write 'Octopus's Garden'! And 'Don't Pass Me By'.

Perhaps the latter means - don't pass me by on the Beatles royalties?

Unless you hit the top it's a struggle . My mate is a novice never had a deal he does around 4 gigs a week. That's his full time job which he loves wont get rich but has a nice simple life style with no pressure.

The Beatles owned Apple, so recording royalties stayed with them, most bands signed away their rights for an advance
