Ah yes a head amp.... I do head amps yes but not based on the Transconductance phono stage. There's a FET one, Lentek clone, improved mains powered Lentek "ish" one of my own (it draws much more power than the Lentek and battery power is not appropriate) and you can even have an all valve head amp... if money is no object!...
Only the FET one is likely to be available to try out at any time in the reasonably near future.
There is indeed such a thing as an Arkless head amp. I have one here in my possession, and it's a piece of kit I have a very high opinion of. Mine is a mains-powered version and I would say its performance is characterised principally by its astonishing silence in operation and by the life and dynamism it brings to the music. I posted a couple of listening impressions on AoS a couple of years back when I got it. You may find it interesting if you are in the market for a top-drawer head amp (or SUT).
A late follow-up. Thanks for the links. I am now without my Ear 802 and will have to look for a decent phono stage to complement my sweet Herron VTSP2 preamp and EAR 516. I am getting tired of box-swapping, so would like this to last. I have sent Arkless a PM re. his offerings.
