Any one tried Eizz stepped potentiometers?

Hi.

I'm considering one these for my A&r Cambridge A60, which has the typical sctlratchy volume pot and very imbalanced channels. Im reckoning that changing even with any new pot would provide an upgrade in sound quality.

If you find the good stuff, China can provide exceptional quality for a very good price, so any real experience anyone has had with trying these Eizz or any other far east pots would be very appreciated. The Eizz at least look very well made.

I brought some of their WBT style binding posts, advertised as gold plated copper, and they were! . The £20 Valab stepped pots are also good for the price.

You reckon there is room for a stepped pot in an A60?... they are mostly pretty big units.

That was my first thought as well. The steppers are much chunkier than the standard pot. Might involve surgery if possible.
Past experience of Valabs is that they're great value.
I have a Khozmo in a DIY preamp, which replaced a Valab and I am very pleased with results.

The Valab is a bit crap tbh. Cheap switch, cheap resistors, but at least it's a true stepped attenuator unlike the expensive Dact in my preamp which is just a chain of resistors soldered end to end. An Alps Black Beauty sounds much better to my ears but I have to say the Dact has absolutely spot on channel balance and the Elma switch is first class. I believe the Eizz is made the same way.

A new Alps blue would be ideal for an A&RA60

Plenty of alternatives at HFC

And the stepped attenuators here

I use a Goldpoint stepped attenuator which is based on the excellent Elma 24 point switch

Interesting, although I would have to open many discussions asking for opinions on a variety of pots. For example, I the allen Bradley ones look like they're work well, better than Alps?

I'm should have stated that I'm just beginning with DIY hi-fi. Alps blue was my first consideration but then I discovered stepped pots and their sonic benefits, I although I've never heard the difference with my own ears. I'm aware that a stepped one Might be too big for the a60. I should open her up and have a look at the space before even considering a stepped pot! I just saw those Eizz ones and was curious. They look relatively compact.

Building a goldpoint one look like a gratifying pursuit, particularly if they really improve the audio transparency significantly. Is there a big sonic benefit to using one of them, if space permits, I over an Alps?
