...buts its £1700! no balanced outs, its pretty much the same spec as the Audiolab CDQ/DQ (but it doesn't have the transport in the case of the CDQ).
As it stands the Audiolab gear seems way ahead of the game for the price, and im sure the SQ too.

No need for tape flaps, they included a tiny Conrad Schnitzler that lives in each Dac, he has a little electronic console and a little phone so he can ring up other musicians. They enter through portals in the back, you can see them on the photo, they have an "IN" and an "OUT" so they don't bump into each other when they're bringing in or out fragile electronic instruments/cement mixers etc.
 
Perhaps there is the opportunity here, like the 'FM3 Gristlizer' machine is it.

I see the premiere of 'The Schnitzlerizer', a little box you turn on, plug into an amp and it gurgles and clunks away, to provde endless hours of musical enjoyment there.

Also, there is a gap in the market for a combined quality cassette deck / adc unit in one box.

Not that Ion one in Maplins is it, I feel it will be a bad one.
