Looks like I'm rather hopeless in using Google. Thanks!

Anyway there is some development with the Luxman L-590AXII. It's starting to rock now after I replaced the single-ended interconnect with a balanced cable. Will update the Luxman and Accuphase thread in a while.

hi, so the dac my friend has is a lampizator dac which costs about 25k usd I do not recall which model excatly

http://www.lampizator.eu/Fikus/WELCOME_TO_LAMPIZATOR.html

so with that dac and the mc701 the sound of the harbeth hl5plus 40th, was amazing full organic engulfing, big, as if I was in the middle of the music

The idea to be able to demo the amp with just a chord mojo is now off the table

Anyhow what I liked alot about this setup is how the sound projected forward and that is the sound I am looking for, but it seems to get there I have to pay tons of money and I am not
ready for that

On another note there is a nice deal on an Auris Audio - Fortino 6550 locally, that i can get for a very good deal. But again without the option to audition it with my harbeth

Then we have a second hand dealer that has some equipment that accepts a trade in with my nova 300 but no audition with my harbeth as well, unless I buy something and if i do not like it then I can change to something else and so

https://audio-extreme.co.il/

then there is an option which is expensive but i can get some discount on it and its

that second hand dealer has a luxman 507u that should give you a decent upgrade - is it in your price range? Easy to resell as well if you don't like it so a low risk purchase.

i might consider it, can i ask how would you describe the sound signature of that amp

As another option consider the Lyngdorf 2170 integrated. I've got one arriving next week for a home demo with my SHL5+ anniversaries. Will report back my findings.

Price is £2500 but it comes with inbuilt DAC, streamer and room correction plus ample power to drive almost any speaker. It can be configured as a Roon endpoint too.

There are plug in card options should you need phono or HDMI inputs.

Though a business with integrity (as I think Harbeth has) does not endorse another product without having confidence in it...
yes, Harbeth (or rather Alan Shaw) says that all amps are the same but quite openly recommends Hegel, indeed. Not that H360/390 should be bad, more a point about integrity?

I remember him commenting that is was only down to the 'gain structure' of the amp. (i.e It didn't clip like his quad did, and he got to turn the volume dial around a bit more)

I'm not sure he quite says all amplifiers sound the same, but I cannot be bothered to trawl through the rather tedious HUG site to see exactly what he said! If it was along the lines of far greater subjective choices to be made between "good" loudspeakers, and "good" amplifiers, then I'd strongly agree. Every pair of loudspeakers I've ever tried sound distinctly different, some amplifiers do sound the same (but not all).

In a recent video he does also make a very specific point about the gain structure of Hegel amplifiers (though I must admit I'd be surprised if this is as unique as he says) without saying they sound better because of it.
