All purpose football thread 2023/24 Season

I feel Chelsea were robbed of 3 points there. They played excellently in the 2nd half.

Villa did look out of sorts, especially with Olsen in goal. Decent save at the end from Palmer but not Villa's best performance.

As Mo Salah books a taxi out of Liverpool I’m pleased to report Wycombe end the sean on a strong end to the season, looked really dodgy mid season but managed to recover, fingers crossed for next season.

Spurs controlled the midfield, but Woolwich controlled everything else. The result flattered Spurs.
They looked much better once Sarr and Bassouma came on. They missed Ndoggie and were never really in it until the clanger from Reya. If Arsenal do win the league it will be despite him rather than because of him. Partey much better than Jorginho which is just as well as Rice seems to have dipped a bit.

City were a little fortunate to win, yesterday, and Nottingham Forest exposed us a little with their tactical plan, and with the athleticism of their players, just as they did in the last fixture. Kyle Walker, as he has recently, was full of errors and was exposed. It was partly him, and partly Jeremy Doku, who hasn't yet developed the sense of defensive responsibility that will come with time (I hope). Conversely, the left side of our defence gave very little to Forest, with Gvardiol the standout, aided by the solid and consistent Nathan Ake, and Jack Grealish, who does so much good work for the team.
The commentary on the game was absolutely dreadful - at one point I thought the commentator may have been having some kind of breakdown as he referred to the team in blue dominating the ball (we were wearing white), and consistently gave the wrong player names, mixing DeBruyne and Grealish, Rodri and Gvardiol, and others. He was really bad. He also said that City only had the Premier League to play for (wrong) and chose DeBruyne as Man of the Match when he was well below par.
Guardiola has chosen the same players for several weeks now and several look very, very tired. DeBruyne and Bernardo Silva looked weary as hell, and Walker was mentally all over the place. Credit to Nottingham Forest too and it is difficult to see how they are in the position that they are when they can deliver what they delivered yesterday.

Spurs controlled the midfield, but Woolwich controlled everything else. The result flattered Spurs.

First half men against boys, Spurs got their tails up second half and gave us a game - this Arsenal team are the real deal and as someone else has DR41 has dipped slightly that said best £105m ever spent. :)

Premier League clubs have agreed in principle to introduce a spending cap.
A majority of clubs voted in favour of the spending cap, which will be determined by the amount of money earned in television rights by the lowest-earning club in the Premier League.
If approved in June's AGM, the new model will replace the current Profit and Sustainability Regulations from the 2025-26 season.

Great night at Selhurst. Surreal moments at the end with United fans applauding their team - presumably for keeping down to 4-0. The players should have been applauding those fans for turning up.
