Does anybody know, which pressings of Ahmad Jamal live at the Pershing have the best sound quality? Are the later reissues any good or to be avoided.
Cheers.
I could have answered this a while back when I still had my turntable and vinyl collection. I probably had around a dozen Ahmad Jamal discs since he's one of my favourite jazz artists of all time. But sadly all the vinyl is long gone and I have no recollection of the details.
If you're a Jamal fan, I warmly recommend The Awakening and At The Top, Poinciana Revisited. Here's a lovely track off that, written by another fine jazz pianist Andre Previn.
