82 volume pot problem..

I recently got a Naim 82.
I find the remote volume pot some times doesn't work and when it does, turning the sound down...it stops at the ten to position.
Even when manually turning the knob..
The sound turns down completely at that position.
Oh and yes, I have changed the batteries in it..
Odd..
Any thoughts.
It hasnt had a service and the Pot is the original.

If everything else works fine it sounds like the knob has just slipped round out of alignment And max volume is where - at 8 O'clock? If so either remove the knob, rotate though 45 degrees and replace or forget about it and just enjoy it a it is.

I agree that the balance knob is simply out of position. There is a screw that you can loosen inside the knob (have to remove rubber ring) and you can reset the knob to like 7pm (softest) to about 5am (loudest). That should sort it. Simple to do and will restore your own emotional balance as well
