70's French Jazz - Alain Goraguer

I am sure the music will be of interest to some here.... New album - Musique Classe X, culled from films of the 70's.

The whole album is available on YouTube. This seems to have been uploaded by French Vortex, so if what I regard as "(stereo)tyically French" music is of potential interest, have a browse there too.

The feint-hearted and easily offended should be warned that the album cover is surprisingly explicit to be uncensored by YouTube and is the picture for the video.

Given the album title translates to "X rated Music", it's no great surprise. You say the music has been 'culled from films of the 70's'. Looking at the LP cover I'm thinking these are porn films. :)

The term should be erotic :). The films were probably/certainly a lot steamier but were made at the same time as us very staid and priggish Brits were making Carry-on and Tales of a..... films.

He is/was well-known in France, not especially for the movies, and was involved in various projects, not least with Serge Gainsbourgh.
To me, this music is oh so typically 70's French jazz - not something that I'd buy, but I'd never switch it off and it certainly brings a fond smile to my face as I remember the late 60's and the 70's very well - my teens.

I can’t say I’m at all familiar with his work on any of those films (!), but Alain Goraguer’s soundtrack for La Planète sauvage / Fantastic Planet (on YouTube, and quite a watch) is pretty cool, and much-sampled.

Some early Simz…

Some 1973 Alain…
