3D printing CB preamp and volume knobs

Is there any mileage in getting a standard ally knob of the right size (s) and if necessary just painting it to suit? Yes, I know that it wouldn't have flutes, but it doesn't need them. I actually think that the "original" knobs looks pretty cheap and nasty.

How to Convert a UK Naim 250 to US voltage?

I have a HiCap and 250 from the UK that I need to wire to US spec. I'm not good at reading the wiring diagram above so I'm wondering if someone can explain it a bit more simply or perhaps show a photo of the switch. What do N and L refer to? The bars on the right side - what are they supposed to...
