I just stumbled on this series of books, a paperback about the making of a classic album.
The one I ordered was about 20 Jazz Funk Greats by Throbbing Gristle, writtn by Drew Daniel of Matmos.
There are loads of others, covering Beefheart, Bowie, Pixies, MBV, Ramones etc.
Cheap c. £3 - £5 each, so must be worth a go.
Do a search on amazon or such to find them.
